Updated September 6, 2009 - The Gulf War Veterans Information System (GWVIS) reports are official Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) documents summarizing Veterans Health Administration (VHA) health care use and Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) disability benefit claim activity among Gulf War Veterans. The reports are prepared each quarter and are shown in chronological order starting with the newest report. However, there appear to be gaps of missing GWVIS reports during the past ten years. The GWVIS reports are organized by month and year. For example, “gwvis_aug_08” is the date of the GWVIS report statistics. Please note the date of the GWVIS statistics is often several months before the publishing date printed on the cover of a GWVIS report. Congress ordered VA to publish reports about Gulf War veterans in 1992, yet VA waited until 2000 to produce standardized reports. The GWVIS reports contain details about the sources of data and definitions of terms used. |
