My Quote:
First of all I want to say when I read these stories my own situation makes me feel like my problems could be a lot worse.I was very proud of the 101st and for years I didn't think I deserved any compensation, now I'm 48 can't hold a job becuase of my injury in the service in 1978 and I need to get compensation.I am no longer to proud to ask for help!

About Me:

I enlisted in 1978 in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles I was 18 at the time. During my pre paratrooper training I substaianed a back injury at L4 L5 level in my lower back. I spent a week in the hospital while on bed rest I developed a cyst that soon became the size of a golf ball and the doctors had to cut it open to drain the huge sore. After my stay in the hospital I was droped off at STB =special training brigade, at STB I Lifted the old coffee cans that were filled with cement with a steel pipe for wieghts and ran everyday to get my strenght back and many other exersises after a like two months go by the drill sargent calls my name and I go over to him and he ask's me how my back is doing I told him it still bothers me but I'll be ok. Couple days later a drill sargent calls my name and tells me to pack my bags I'm going home. I was given a honable dishcharge a check and a duffle bag with my clothes in it. Since then I have had four back surgeries with complications at L4 L5 in my lower back. While at the DAV I told the Marine about my story he said why your collecting right I told him no.  That Marine started a claim for me in 2004 I had a hearing about a year ago and I met all the burdens of Washinton DC Appeals board and in Dec 2007 I recieved the Appeals Board decision to re-open my claim and send me to a medicail evauluationevaluation .I am waiting to go now. Up date I just went to the Penn and comp doctor at our VA .If the Penn and comp doctor agrees with one of the best back doctors of this state I should be getting a dissabilty rating.
