My Quote:
We should go to war only as the very last resort, only in the true defense of our country, and only when the reasons for the war have been clearly and honestly laid before the American people.

About Me:

I was in the Army in Viet Nam in 1968, a SP4 in the 371st Radio Research Company. I was not a war hero; I was a scared skinny kid. I was spared the worst of PTSD, probably because my NCO's shielded us younger guys from the sight of our good captain's broken body.

My disappointment in life is for my country. We learned nothing from the Viet Nam experience, and let those who never wore the uniform send our sons and daughters into repeated combat deployments for what has been found not to be true. Dwight Eisenhower's admonition about the military-industrial complex was similarly ignored. Our corporate-owned press has swept this war and those upon whose shoulders we have placed it under the rug, and has concentrated instead on the antics of celebrity trollops.

My joy in life, in addition to my wife and children,  is in the decent, honorable people I meet as a vet rep.  It is because I have seen and heard enough of their suffering that I am a member of Veterans for Peace.  We should go to war only as the very last resort, only in the true defense of our country, and only when the reasons for the war have been clearly and honestly laid before the American people.

Note: The opinions I express about the war, about religion, or any other controversial topic, are my own, and do not necessarily relect the views of any organization of vet reps, or veterans' service organizations.
