Recommend this blog “I am not gay! I have never been gay!”
Maybe not, Mr. Craig. But neither was Max Cleland, who lost three limbs serving in Vietnam, soft on defense. But that’s how beneath contempt low Republicans have sunk since the days of Ed Brooke and Ev Dirksen, before winning became the only thing and how one won didn’t matter.

Recommend this blog Our 4,077 U.S. military deaths in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are the worst possible consequence of military service. Yet what about our 250,000 wounded, injured, and ill combat survivors and their families who suffer for a lifetime?

Recommend this blog Hitler was democratically elected by a loudly cheering populace. They got exactly what they wanted. He was their champion whose Deutschland Uber Alles was all to "Victory." I wasn't within the American Legion convention hall, but I could almost hear the faint wafting echo of the cheers of long ago.

Recommend this blog Walking through the casino later I was approached by a Washoe County Deputy Sheriff and a fellow in a light colored summer suit. I knew who the latter was, or at least suspected. He had a neatly trimmed haircut and a coiled earpiece. “Excuse me sir, mind if we ask you a couple questions? Step over here, would you please.”

Recommend this blog Covering their tails for agreeing to go into Iraq with too few troops and no coherent plan, the generals tried to cover their tails, according to the Iraq Study Group, by “significant underreporting of the violence. On one day in July 2006 there were 93 attacks or significant acts of violence reported” while the ISG noted how there were in fact at least 1,100 acts of violence.

Recommend this blog I live in Reno, Nevada. Tuesday, the 28th, the American Legion is having its national convention in the Reno-Tahoe Convention Center on South Virginia. And here’s the first of the bad news: the legion of Legionnaires has invited George W. Bush to speak at its convention. Bad News 2: He accepted, and is scheduled to do so, promptly at 10:00 AM.

Recommend this blog Unbeknownst to many veterans there is a loan available specifically for them. A VA Loan is a loan guaranteed by the VA in order to protect lenders. Because of the guarantee the lender can give a substantially better interest rate and they typically do not require the downpayment either.

Recommend this blog What are the three major lessons for American citizens in 2007? First, register and vote - when you don't vote, you have let fear and apathy steal your freedoms. Second, read our Constitution so you know about the liberties our Revolutionary War veterans fought for. And, third, when voting, look at the candidates’ actions and votes, not their statements or their political party.

Recommend this blog After the incursion into Lebanon, the war was to broaden via Lebanese forces who would be acting on Israel’s behalf to invade Syria “by establishing the precedent that Syrian territory is not immune to attacks emanating from [italics mine] Lebanon by Israeli proxy forces.” Then, as immediately as combat began, Israel would strike “Syrian military targets in Lebanon, and should that prove insufficient, striking at select targets in Syria proper [italics in original].”

Recommend this blog At long last, the most primal fears of Mr. Franklin, Mr. Jefferson, Mr. Madison and every signatory of that Convention have been realized as full born in the imperial presidency of George W. Bush. Yesterday’s Senate Judiciary Hearing featured J. Scott Jennings, Sp Asst to the Pres & Pol Dir. Question after question was answered “That falls under the president’s directive of executive privilege, and I therefore must respectfully decline to answer that question.”
