Both the Air Force and Navy have been feeling a gradual yet increasing call for “burden sharing” in the Iraq War even if the other 99 percent of the American people have not. Thank God it is beginning to show in ways that only those of us who have spent lots of time in uniform, especially purple suited can imagine.

+Recommend this blog Military deterrence has, throughout human history, generally served to cause war. I believe we must pursue an alternative to military deterrence, one in which commitment to peace and non-violence replaces military deterrence as a policy.

+Recommend this blog We are involved in a civil war in Iraq that mirrors the Virginia Tech slaughter in several ways. The slaughter of innocent Iraqi civilians by insurgent factions and our military cannot be condoned any more than can the slaughter of innocent people at Virginia Tech.
