Simple Terms

To understand the position of the United States in the World today, we need to know four historical terms: Minutemen. Redcoats. Kamikaze. Collaborator. This is especially useful in explaining the present situation to people who can't disassociate from earlier eras. The sentence "In Iraq, A huge, heavily-funded, technologically-overburdened American military is facing individuals with easily-obtained low-tech, but highly effective arms. Tribes or individuals who cooperate with us are targeted by forces with nothing to lose, grieving for relatives and lives we destroyed, and willing to die to take out one of their enemy." Translation, using the four terms: "The Minutemen are kicking our Redcoat butts. Our collaborators are being wiped out by Kamikazes."

Donna, I do not mean to belittle nor degrade your Blog post, but put a Panaramic View on it if I may. 1. Minutemen: There is a far cry between the patriotic Minutemen of American History that evolved into the citizen Soldiers that would eventually drive the British colonial power from colonial America (with the help of France) and a few Native American tribal allies AND the 21st Century MINUTEMAN movement along our borders that has taken advantage of the militiaman movement (Timothy McVeigh types) allowed to blossom and grow under the Bush NEO-whatever Regime. These YAHOOS will eventually have to be stamped out by our National Guard and Regular troops (what is left of them) when they return and that in itself won't be easy. 2. Redcoats: Please do not compare out troops in anyway to British colonial troops. By all means compare our government representatives (regardless of party) to REDCOATS, but OUR TROOPS do not decide nor have the power to decide which nations America will COLONIZE, INVADE, or OCCUPY. That job is left to CONGRESS and the PRESIDENT to DECIDE. OUR TROOPS only carry it out. That said, OUR TROOPS have THE CHOICE to decide to pay the consequences and have THE COURAGE TO RESIST our government that is CONGRESS and the PRESIDENT, but only a few have had the courage to do that. One cannot blame anyone for lacking the courage to resist nor the will to GIVE WAR A CHANCE or view that to remain loyal to our government and the American people is the best course of action. CONGRESS is not implementing the WILL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE OR IS IT? REGARDLESS, OUR TROOPS ARE AND NEVER WILL BE REDCOATS. 3. You lost me on KAMIKAZI. There is little comparison between a Muslim Suisice Bomber and a Japanese Military Kamikazi. What similarities there are can be compared to Vietnam and Iraq in damage done but that is about all. The impact of Muslim suicide bombers on both our troops and Americans in general far surpasses anything Kamikazis were capable of. First, Japanese Kamikazis appeared late in the Pacific War and limited their targets to military not civilian due to the lack of munitions and pilots. By the end of WWII most of Japans best and most experienced pilots were gone, wounded or dead. The Kamikazi Corp was in most part teenagers and old men who were reluctantly brainwashed to blow themselves up with their planes pointed at U.S. Navy ships for Emperor Hirohito. This was a Shinto spiritiual reenactment of the Devine Wind that was a Typhoon centuries before that sunk most of Kubla Khans Mongolian Fleet when the Mongols unsuccessfully invaded Japan. Kamikazi was to a a man made TYPHOON of metal and steel to sink the U.S. Fleet and doomed to failure without the help of mother nature. Secondly, while Shinto is not a religion per se, but nature worship that has long lost its following in Japan. Muslim suicide bombers have been RELIGIOUSLY doing what they do against Isreal for decade BEFORE the Iraq War. Unlike the Kamikaki both men and women are suicide bombers, and they target both military and civilian locations with the largest crowd possible. 4. Collaborators: Frankly, it seems to be our collaborators that really are most vulnerable to a blood bath when (not if) our troops leave Iraq. In fact, I would venture to say that the main reluctance on the part of all concerned is OUR COLLABORATORS. The Dems are reluctant to withdraw unless it is gradual, and now the Republicans are slowing jumping on the Band Wagon with the 2008 election quick approaching, especially in Battleground States (Sen. Lugan in Indiana, and Sen. Voinovich in Ohio just recently PUCKED). SOLUTION to avoid another Fall of Vietnam Blood Bath. As our troops begin to withdraw at least offer the opportunity for our collaborators to seek safe haven in refugee camps in America (similar to the Hmong in California do a Google search). Of course the anti-immigration movement of both Dems and Republicans will have to be overcome, but hell as Colin Powell said, "WE BREAK IT WE OWN IT!" 5. We have two choices either bring as many Iraqis that collaborated with us out of Iraq (lesson learned to keep us out of future VIETNAM LIKE MISTAKES) or IMPLEMENT THE DRAFT in order to have the massive ground forces it will take to build a Security parameter around the nation of Iraq, restore order, hunt down Al Queda, and keep Isreali-Americans happy that the nation of Isreal is secure. Bobby Hanafin Specialist-5, U.S. Army (69-76) Major, U.S. Air Force-Retired (77-94) Military Families Speak Out- OHIO PS: As a Libertarian, I prefer we NOT HAVE SELECTIVE SERVICE, in fact WE have not done enough to REPEAL THE DRAFT. |
