Veterans for Common Sense Special Report: The governments War on Veterans (Valor Stolen vs. Stolen Valor)
Posted By Bobby Hanafin, Major, USAF-Ret at 2:40 PM

When I received this report from Veterans for Common Sense (VCS) I could not but feel the strong "deja vu" coming from it with Gerald Nicosia's ground breaking historic analysis of how Vietnam Veterans were greeted by our government upon our return from Vietnam. In fact, this VCS Special Report: War on Veterans is nothing but a continuation of Nicocia's Home to War: History of the Vietnam Veterans Movement. http://www.eyeonbooks.com/ibp.php?ISBN=0812991036
http://www.metroactive.com/papers/sonoma/05.17.01/nicosia-0120.html
This is the real "Valor Stolen" from America's Veterans by the non-Veterans who avoided combat or even wearing a uniform when called to do their duty (and their poster-boy REMFs and successful officers of the right-wing) and still is.http://www.bookpage.com/0105bp/nonfiction/home_to_war.html
Not the "Stolen Valor" of selective fake Veterans targetted by the likes of B.G. Burkett, John O'Neil, Ted Sampley and their swamp slim riverboat crews for political reasons and nothing more. Don't believe me read beyond the fake Veteran crap to their attacks on Agent Orange being a conspiracy between Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), and "liberal scientists" against Dow Chemical company. Read beyond fake Veterans to how these pious Veterans attacked PTSD as a conspiracy by liberal Psychiatrists, Psychologist infesting the Veterans Administration, and the VVA to rip off the American tax payer on an illness that was not as severe as presented nor needed as much compensation. Burkett's book "Stolen Valor" is as anti-PTSD as it can get.

Why? See my review of Stolen Valor in Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stolen_Valor
While we still battle our government for Veterans Benefits to include mandatory funding of the VA Medical and Claims system, the architech of Swiftboat Veterans for Bush, Texan, B.G. Burkett lauches a Reality TV Show based on his book Stolen Valor as a distraction. Wonder who they will get to play John Kerry, because we know that is where this is heading. http://www.clippergroupent.com/stolenvalor.html
One would have thought that Brother Burkett and his Swiftboat Veterans for Bush would have donated some of the mullah they raised to defeat Senator Kerry to the Noble Cause of making mandatory funding of the VA system a reality, but if VETERANS read his book Stolen Valor closely you will find that Burkett is among the right wing Veterans cut from the same cloth as Congressman Steve Buyer who wants to dismantle the VA system. Why?
Because the Veterans Administration is symbolic of everything B.G. Burkett finds wrong with HIS image of what a successful Vietnam Veteran should not be.
JUST A THOUGH!

If you try and reed Burkets Book? (I couldn't finish it because it was so wrong) You may ask how did he get psyc records from NPRC in response to FOIAs, given that a vet him or her self can't get their own psyc records if they request them with authority. Look to the credits in the book and you will see what I and others believe had to be violations of privacy. You simply don't get all that info from NARA via FOIA someone had to be cooperating from the inside.

Evidently not wanting to give not even a name like Dubya or Shrub or "I had better things to do Dick," you might be closer to this travesty than I. That said, Bobby Hanafin is not reluctant to put his name on anything I write or say about anyone or anything as long as I know I'm right, and I can back it up with proof and plenty of research and LINKS to that research. Being a legit 100% Disabled Veteran, I am willing to risk being wrong, and regarding any fear I bet my life literally on what I advocate, because my life ended when THEY took our Soldier away from us. There are more ways than one to take a child from one's parents anomous. The result was to make my Veterans activistism even more radical and aggressive. Only way to shut me up or stop me is with a bullet or what have you, any google search will tell them where to find me. I do this voluntarily and I do this for NOTHING. That is what makes the vast difference between activists like me and slim like B.G. Burkett and his Tugboat crew. Regarding what you said above. As a trained Military Intelligence Officer with 17 years field and analytical experience behind me "speed reading" Burkett's roll of toilet paper and comparing it to Nicosia's scholarly work of art was a piece of cake. Do you realize how much bullshit a MI officer or NCO goes through in 17 years to get at the truth despite how many times we screwed it up. That aside I went beyong Burkett's book Stolen Valor to do a case study on the man to digest what makes him tick. Interesting what you can do when you place folks like Burkett, O'Neil, and Sampley under the microscope. All you need do is examine just one of them. I did their mentor Burkett. Starting as early as 1994, I read about our hero Burkett in Readers Digest, True Face of the Vietnam Vet, By Malcolm McConnell. Fed up with the stereotype of his comrades as bedraggled losers, one man decided to expose the frauds. I tried to find a LINK to the Readers Digest article, but it must be out of circulation since 1994. The best I could do was LINK to a Vietnam Unit Website, Bravo Company, 7th Engineers which hails Burkett's piece of crap, because it make them feel better about losing the war. Need to cut and paste link into your search engine. (http://www.bravo7.com/Narratives/stolenvalor.htm) GO TO THE SECOND POST AND SEE WHAT IS REALLY EATING AT BURKETT AND HIS RIGHT WING BUNCH. "On the State Fair grounds in Dallas, B. G. Burkett stood patiently beside five red granite tablets, the start of a Texas Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Contributions had been disappointing, and Burkett, co-chairman for fundraising, (President George H.W. Bush was the other co-chairman) had called a news conference to get publicity on that September afternoon in 1988. Then Burkett noticed the arrival of an uninvited delegation. His jaw tightened. They were dressed in a hodgepodge of camouflage fatigues and blue jeans, some sporting scraggly beards and ponytails. Several wore the insignia of combat units or the green beret of the elite Special Forces. (Appears to me Burkett is describing a delegation of Artie Muellers Rolling Thunder Vietnam Veterans Motorcyle organization that endorsed George W. Bush in 2004 saying the closing of a few VA Hospitals was no big deal. In fact, how many members of real no shit Veteran related motorcycle clubs that do good deeds for patients in VA Hospitals, the Homeless Vet, and our troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan fit this negative IMAGE Burkett paints above? GET THE PICTURE? If so, YOU'VE BEEN Neo-Conned by your own Veteran Brother who sold you out like Judas did Jesus.) Speaking of Malcolm McConnell who wrote the story giving Burkett his open door to write Stolen Valor. McConnell's been making a living profitting off glorifying war (war profitting) from Vietnam to Iraq. Cut and paste LINK into your search engine. (http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22Malcolm+McConnell%22&prssweb=Search&ei=UTF-8&fr=sbc-web&n=100&fl=0&x=wrt) Malcolm has been getting rich off of telling war stories since the Fall of Saigon. How much of McConnell's war profits have gone toward "mandatory" funding of the VA Health care system or to advocate for his fellow brothers and sisters. About as much as is going to come from Burkett's TV deal on Stolen Valor. In closing, Anonomous Burkett and his followers are a bigger THREAT to the treatment of those who suffer and endure these real problems so Burkett can make a profit, but that is another article I need to do called: WANT TO KNOW WHY OUR GOVERNMENT IS STILL ATTACKING PTSD AND ASKING FOR YET ANOTHER STUDY. WE CAN THANK BUSH FAMILY FRIEND B.G. BURKETT. Bobby "Indy Thinker" Hanafin
