Veterans Memorial Day Dinner, in Oklahoma, a Success....by Hazel Davis

+Recommend this blog Founders and Incorporators of The San Bois Mountain-Valley Veterans Association of Oklahoma, hosted an Appreciation Luncheon on Sunday, May 25, 2008, which was held at the Dining Hall of the LeQuire Fire Department Building. Representing the Stigler Chamber of Commerce was Dr. Amanda Copeland; Representing Mid-Lakes Home-Healthcare Agency,was Laveda Rutherford, all of Stigler, Oklahoma; Representing the Hand and Harvest Outreach Services to Disabled Individuals of Oklahoma, is the Founder / Direcor, Stephen Sisco of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Representing The San Bois Mountain-Valley Veterans Association of Oklahoma, was the Founder / Director, Hazel Davis of LeQuire, Oklahoma. Other Members of the Board of Trustees of SBMV Veterans Association, L.B. Cloud, Don Thompson, and J.D. Decker, had prior engagements, and could not attend this event. Veterans attending from Out-of-State, was Rob Larson and family from Corsicana, Texas, and Larey Freeman of Huntsville, Arkansas. Several local Disabled American Military Veterans attended this event, and Out-of-County Disabled Veterans, include: Erven Bray and wife, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Also in attendance was: Ms. Jackie Ward of LeQuire, Oklahoma Charles and Rebecca McManus of Stigler, Oklahoma; Clinton and Pauline Sampson of Stigler, Oklahoma (Clinton is also a Military Veteran). Those who Prepared the food were: Hazel Davis of LeQuire, Oklahoma; Larey Freeman of Arkansas and James (Jim) Derryberry of Kinta, Oklahoma. while preparing for this luncheon, a buffet of hot foods, was delivered to the Haskell County Jail, for the inmates, who are being housed there, at this time. This meal included: Enchilada Casserole; Chili; Potato Salad; Creamed Potatoes with Green Peas; Relish Dishes of Beets, Sliced Onion, and Black Olives; Sausage Burgers smothered in Gravy; Barbequed Pork Roast; Green Beans; Whole Kernel Corn; Turnip & Mustard Greens; Macaroni & Cheese; Sliced Ham with Pineapple Slices; White Navy Beans; Chocolate Cake; Vanilla Cake with Strawberry Icing; Apple-Cinnamon Cobbler; Iced Tea and Cold Drinks. The Haskell County Sheriff's Officers, on Duty at the Jail, showed Much Appreciatin, for the Buffet Foods, delivered to Them, on Behalf of the Inmates. Artwork, (of Stephen Sisco, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma), was on Display. Stephen Sisco has a Degree in Art and Graphic Design, and is Currently Designing Swimwear for Women, which will soon be marketed). Stephen Sisco has already painted serveral large pictures of American Military Soldiers, dressed in Military Uniforms. Also, on Display was a Portrait Painting, of Stephen's Wife (now deceased). In the Portrait was the two granddaughters of Stephen. Stephen Sisco also has several College Degrees in Horticulture, and enjoys Designing Landscapes. While Stephen Sisco was in this Eastern Part of Oklahoma, he visited the San Bois Mountain area, just five miles SW of LeQuire, Oklahoma...where he Painted a Large Painting of the San Bois Mountain Valley. When this Painting is finished, a Replica of it will hang in a Gallery, in Haskell County. Memorial Day Weekend was celebrated all across America, for the Year of 2008, and during this time, Our Fallen Soldiers, are also Remembered. Special Music and Singing, for this Tribute to Our American Military Veterans, was Planned / Contributed by Edward Daney of the Edward Daney Christian Outreach Ministries, of McAlester, Oklahoma. (Edward Daney is scheduled to preform during the Upcoming Stigler Reunion Days, in mid-June, 2008, in Stigler, Oklahoma. Artwork by Stephen Sisco; and a Quilting Design / Bedspread, by Hazel Davis, will also be displayed during the Upcoming Stigler Reunion Days, also. Sending Greetings from the Office of U.S. Congressman, Senator James Inhofe, was Ron Massey, of Oklahoma. (Ron Massey has agreed to provide any assistance needed, for Our Military Veterans & Their Family Members, so the Veterans will be assured, to be provided "Every Opportunity to Receive VA Benefits, to which the Veterans and Their Family Members, are Entitled.
