Dear VCS Members:

This morning our VCS system was hacked. We apologize for any illegitimate e-mails sent to our members today by the hacker.

There is no protection for the type of hack that hit VCS. VCS blocked the hacker within two hours of identifying the problem, and the improper e-mails have stopped.

Our members should remember that VCS is a 501(c)3 non-profit with more than 13,000 members. We testify before Congress on issues important to our members. As a result of our high profile, we are subject to attacks from extremist groups and others.

We hope our members focus on our successes on behalf of veterans, including our recent research efforts publicized by the Army Times.

Again, VCS regrets any problems caused by this unfortunate incident.
