Sept. 28 VCS News: Thank You & Lawsuit Update

Dear VCS Supporter:

Thank you. Veterans for Common Sense appreciates our 30 members who donated more than $1,200 the past thre days toward our mission.

We're sending this special update because a new report from the Government Accountability Office is devastating: Six months after the Walter Reed scandal, the military and VA have failed to start fixing the disaster, and our wounded veterans keep waiting for help.

At the same time, VA tried to cut and run on veterans and not address the delays veterans face trying to see a doctor. Read our press release about VA's motion to dismiss our class action lawsuit. VA wants to claim they can "do no wrong" -- as if they were above the law.

This means VCS will be working overtime pressing for passage of S 1606, the Wounded Warrior bill, that brings real reform. VCS must be ready for when President Bush names a new VA Secretary.

VCS invites veterans to attend a conference held by Veterans and Military Families for Progress in Washington, DC on September 29.

In the past few days, VCS was quoted in a newspaper article and in a newspaper editorial about problems facing our Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans. VCS also provided a written statement on behalf of 175,000 of our ill Gulf War veterans.

VCS is still almost $1,000 short for the month of September. Your financial support for VCS makes our efforts possible. Another 20 donations of $50 and we will reach our goal.

Can you help us meet our fundraising goal by Sunday, September 30 so we can continue helping veterans, promoting our national security, and defending our civil liberties?

Sincerely,

Paul Sullivan
Executive Director
